Pembroke Pines police are searching for a female driver who hit a motorcyclist and then left the scene Wednesday morning.
The woman, driving a white Mercedes, was traveling east on Pines Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. when she hit a man on a motorcycle traveling west and trying to turn left, police Capt. Al Xiques said.
“After impact the driver of the white Mercedes left the scene,” Xiques said.
The motorcyclist was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with “serious, but not life-threatening injuries,” Xiques said.
Pedestrians at a nearby bus stop witnessed the hit-and-run and assisted the police in eventually locating the white Mercedes in the Heron Pond development in Pembroke Pines.
The driver was not in the car and police are asking anyone with information about the accident to contact the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
The search in the immediate development has ceased, Xiques said, but the investigation continues. The driver has not been identified.
