Four people were killed and one person was seriously injured late Tuesday night in a violent two-car crash on U.S. 27 north of Interstate 75 in Weston, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Nathan Lee Wine, 27, was alone in a car traveling south in the northbound lane when he crashed into an oncoming SUV, according to FHP. He died in his veheicle.
In the SUV were: Hermis Ruiz, 67, of Clewiston; Daisy Zayas, 62, of Clewiston; Ines Zayas-Pena, 63, and and Minerio Ruiz Torres, 69, both listed as living in Cuba.
Ruiz, Zayas and Zayas-Pena all died in the SUV while Torres was taken to Broward Health North with serious injuries.
All northbound lanes were closed Tuesday night as troopers investigated the crash, said Sgt Mark Wysocky. The lanes reopened at 3 a.m. Wednesday.
FHP did not release details on the cause of the crash.
