One teen was killed and five injured in a boat crash at a bridge on the Middle River in Fort Lauderdale, according to authorities.
The crash of the 17-foot craft happened after midnight Thursday at the bridge off North Dixie Highway.
The injured teens were taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
Witnesses said that low drainage pipes under the bridge might have contributed to the tragedy in the dark. Authorities found the boat wedged under the bridge, which has a low clearance over the water.
“There is not one particular area that they hit,” said Amanda Phillips, a spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is investigating the crash.
The boat was towed from the crash scene before sunrise Thursday morning.
