A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon as he apparently sat in his car at a Citgo gas station in Lauderdale Lakes, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The fatally wounded man first drove some 10 blocks north away from the gas station before careening onto a raised median at Northwest 34th Street and State Road 7.

Police said a call came in just after 2 p.m. reporting a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the crashed car of the unidentified victim, a man in his 20s. He was still behind the wheel.

The man was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

Detectives are not saying whether the shooter left on foot in or in a car, said BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion.

This marks the second time in a week a person has been shot and killed at a South Florida gas station.

Early last Sunday, Atlanta resident Max Ludovic Brody, 22, who came to Miami Beach to party, was killed a Miami Beach Shell station.

This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
