A crash Sunday between a pickup truck and a charter bus at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport left one person hurt.
And because of the location of accident, on a stretch of Perimeter Road connecting the airport to the economy parking lot, travelers who plan to use economy parking Sunday should leave about 45 minutes earlier than normal, airport spokesman Gregory Meyer said.
The reason, Meyer said, is that buses carrying people from economy parking to the terminals are being forced to use alternate routes that take longer.
The crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. A northbound charter bus collided with a southbound pickup truck in the 1900 block of West Perimeter Road.
The bus driver wasn’t hurt, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and nobody else was on board. The truck driver was trapped inside and needed to be extricated, but he was conscious and alert, BSO said.
He was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale for treatment.
The stretch of Perimeter Road where it happened will be closed while BSO investigators determine what happened.
