An 88-year-old woman was recovering Wednesday from a beating she received at the hands of a robber who forced his way into her Pompano Beach home the night before.
It happened in the 800 block of Northwest 33rd Street about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Pearl Patrinos answered a knock at her door and was met by a young man who pushed his way inside, punched Patrinos in the face and then took her to her bedroom, where he demanded money, investigators said.
The robber became angry and threatened to kill Patrinos when she told him she didn't have any money. He took several pieces of jewelry and some cash from her purse before running out of the home, investigators said.
Never miss a local story.
Patrinos was treated at North Broward Medical Center, and she has since been released.
Authorities did not have a detailed description of the robber available, but said he appeared to be in his late teens to early 20s and had a thin build. He was wearing a white tank top and baggy shorts at the time of the crime.
The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call robbery Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4270, or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
