FORT LAUDERDALE — Two men were killed early Thursday when the pick-up truck they were in veered off Interstate 95, overturned and crashed into trees and brush off the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened shortly after 3 a.m. on the southbound side of I-95 a little south of Broward Boulevard.
"This is a single-vehicle crash," said FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Initially, three southbound lanes of I-95 were closed to motorists.
Never miss a local story.
By about 6:15 a.m., the investigation was taking up one right lane and the shoulder of I-95 but traffic through the accident scene remained congested.
The identification of the two men who died in the crash will not be released until family members are notified, Wysocky said.
Wysocky asked that anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 954-837-4000 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 1-866-493-8477.
