A precautionary boil water notice goes into effect at 5:30 a.m. Saturday for parts of Fort Lauderdale’s Rio Vista neighborhood.
Water line maintenance in the area, beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, could mean low to no pressure for users in an area bound by Federal Highway on the west; Southeast 11th Avenue on the east; Southeast Eighth Street on the north; and Southeast Ninth Street on the south. Those users should bring tap water to a boil for one minute if they intend to use it for cooking, drinking, ice, washing dishes and brushing teeth. Bottled water, of course, can be used as a substitute.
The notice will be in effect for a minimum of two days, then lifted when bacteriological surveys show the water is safe to drink. When that happens, the city will notify the properties in the area and post to the city’s website.
