Prices at the pump stayed steady the past week in South Florida.
The average price per gallon averaged $2.28 on Sunday, according to a survey of nearly 1,700 stations in the Miami area by GasBuddy.com. Prices fell slightly across the country, dipping 0.8 cents per gallon to $2.21. Florida prices averaged $2.19 a gallon on Sunday, according to AAA.
“Refineries have ramped-up production to meet the increased demand, which helps to balance prices at the pump,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said.
Prices in the Miami area have swung widely over the past few years. The May 9 cost last year was $2.68 a gallon. In 2014, the price was $3.51.
