NORTHEAST FLORIDA

Deaths of 2 who washed ashore in Northeast Florida unrelated

Authorities say the deaths of two men whose bodies washed ashore in Northeast Florida appear to be unrelated.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Friday that no foul play is suspected in either case.

Preliminary autopsy reports indicate that 52-year-old William Hare drowned. Hare's body was found Wednesday evening on Vilano Beach.

The second man was found a few hours later and 14 miles north on Ponte Vedra Beach. Authorities say the 62-year-old man apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
