Palm Beach County kid TV reporter Damon Weaver on Thursday interviewed President Barack Obama, fulfilling the Pahokee sixth-grader's dream. And Damon asked the president to be his ``homeboy,'' the title Damon earlier bestowed upon Vice President Joe Biden.

The president gladly accepted the title.

Friday morning, Damon met with reporters outside the White House, making appearances on the CBS Early Show, CNN's American Morning and MSNBC.

``The president is a normal person,'' he said of his new homeboy.

Damon, 11, sat with the nation's chief executive in the White House Diplomatic Room, asking 11 questions mostly concerning education, according to Brian Zimmerman, Damon's teacher.

``It was a great experience,'' Zimmerman said. ``Damon even got to meet the dog.''

The 10-minute interview was posted Thursday night on YouTube.

Damon peppered the interview with the silly and serious. He asked the president about education, violence and even school lunches -- exclaiming that if it were up to him he'd have French fries and mangoes on the menu every day.

He also asked whether Obama would play basketball against NBA star Dwyane Wade, who promised him a match if he got the interview: ``He's not sure if he'd let you score,'' the youngster said.

And what is it like to be president?

``It's very exciting. It's a lot of work. There's time's when you get a little worn down, but every day you have the possibility, the ability of helping other people,'' Obama said, ``And if you can do that, then that's a great, great thing.''

Lavoise Smith, principal of K.E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary in the Glades, called it a ``phenomenal accomplishment.''

``This is what we have worked for,'' Smith said. ``I feel especially proud of him. He is the most unlikely student from the most unlikely school to be able to accomplish this.''

Damon became an Internet sensation last year after his September one-on-one interview with then-vice presidential candidate Joe Biden during a campaign stop in the county. Damon called Biden ``my homeboy'' in a six-minute clip viewed hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube.

Along with Thursday's interview, Obama took photos with and gave autographs to Damon, his mother and Zimmerman.

Damon has been angling for an interview with Obama since before the election. He was in Washington, D.C., for the presidential inauguration in January, and then again in June to accept a Shortie Award, in an international competition honoring student film and news productions. While there, he toured part of the West Wing of the White House and received a congratulatory letter from Biden.

Damon, who starts the sixth grade on Tuesday at the K-6 school, is known worldwide.

He has received the promise of a scholarship from Albany State University in Georgia. He's been corresponding with a class of 12-year-olds in France and he's appeared on ABC, CNN and other networks several times.
