FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Three teenagers accused of setting a 15-year-old on fire will be charged as adults.
Denver Jarvis, Matthew Bent and Jesus Mendez, were charged Monday with one count each of attempted second-degree murder.
The Broward County State Attorney's office said Jarvis, 15, is accused of pouring rubbing alcohol on Michael Brewer on Oct. 12 in Deerfield Beach. Mendez, 16, is accused of lighting Brewer on fire, and Bent, 15, is accused of directing the attack.
Brewer sustained burns over 65 percent of his body and is still in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Authorities said charges are not being filed at this time against Steven Shelton, 16, and Jeremy Jarvis, 13, pending further investigation. The two teens will be released.
