Coast Guard closes ports from Miss. to Fla.

The Associated Press

The U.S. Coast Guard has closed Gulf Coast ports from Mississippi to Florida.

The Captain of the Port in Mobile, Ala., has established port condition zulu, which essentially closes the ports of Gulfport and Pascagoula, Miss.; Mobile, Ala.; and Pensacola and Panama City, Fla., to all vessel traffic unless otherwise authorized.

The Coast Guard says a unified command station, including representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has been created at Coast Guard Sector Mobile.

Additional information can be found at the Coast Guard's Tropical Storm Ida Public Information site at: http://www.piersystem.com/go/site/2507.
