LITTLE HAVANA
A thief took a political banner at the corner of Southwest 37th Avenue and West Flagler Street between 6 and 9 a.m. July 27.
A thief stole about $100 from the coin box of a washing machine in an apartment building in the 1900 block of Southwest Sixth Street on July 26.
A thief pocketed a wallet from a man who was folding his clothes at a laundry mat at 809 SW Eighth St. on July 25.
EAST LITTLE HAVANA
A burglar ransacked a house in the 100 block of Southwest First Avenue between 4 and 8 p.m. Aug. 1.
COCONUT GROVE
A burglar broke into a business at 2779 Bird Ave. between 1 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1.
A burglar ransacked a boat in the 3400 block of Pan American Drive between July 15 and July 24.
A man picked up a wallet off a table in a restaurant at 3110 Commodore Plaza and fled south on Main Highway on July 25.
DOWNTOWN MIAMI
A thief stole items left on the roof of a car in a parking lot at 950 NE Second Ave. while the owner was distracted loading his trunk at 2 p.m. July 26.
FLAGAMI AREA
A thief stole two cellphones after breaking a window of a 2008 Scion in the 1100 block of Northwest 72nd Avenue between 11 p.m. Aug. 30 and 12:45 a.m. Aug. 31. The items were valued at $400. Damage was estimated at $100.
CORAL GABLES
Vandals caused about $73,500 in damage to the Granada Golf Course in the 1100 block of South Greenway Drive when they stole 21 golf carts from the club garage and drove them around the course between 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 6 a.m. Aug. 23. The course supervisor told police he arrived at 6 a.m. Aug. 23 to find the carts damaged and scattered around the course. Four carts were found on the south side of the course, three just outside the garage, two on the west side of the garage and 12 north of the garage. All had broken or missing parts. In addition, the vandals damaged the eighth green, the fifth green and the putting green when they drove the carts over the course. Police believe the vandalism may be related to a similar incident that occurred July 27 when carts were also taken from the garage and used to damage the course.
A nanny walking her boss's dog in the 100 block of Aledo Avenue at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 17 was bit by a neighbor's dog. The nanny told police she was bit after the neighbor's dog pulled free from the person walking him. She said she tried to separate the dogs. She also may have broken her wrist when she fell. The neighbor's dog was placed in quarantine until animal control workers could investigate and the nanny, 52, was taken to Doctor's Hospital.
A thief stole a laptop computer, two purses, an iPod and other items after breaking a door lock on a 2007 Honda Pilot in the 300 block of Aragon Avenue between 8 and 8:45 p.m. Aug. 17. The items were valued at $5,415. Damage was estimated at $100.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both from Miami, on charges of auto theft in the 3900 block of Alhambra Circle at 1 a.m. Aug. 18 after police found them trying to steal a 1997 Honda Accord. Damage to the car was estimated at $550.
A burglar collected a camera, a laptop computer, a camera bag, lens and a backpack after forcing open a window of a house in the 200 block of Alesio Avenue between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 18. The items were valued at $1,643.
