Charles Joseph Goldman and wife Bethea -- the ``Joey'' and ``Thea'' who own the popular Joey's Italian Cafe in the Wynwood arts district, are in Miami-Dade divorce court. He filed.
The Goldmans, both 37 and married 11 years, have a 10-year-old son.
``Neither party should be awarded any alimony,'' says his petition, filed by attorney Melissa Jacobs. He wants the court to award him ``non-marital or premarital properties as well as special equities where appropriate.''
Joey is a partner in Goldman Properties, founded by his dad, Tony Goldman. The senior Goldman, 65, is a developer and urban preservationist active in South Beach and Wynwood, as well as in New York, Boston and Philadelphia.
Court records do not show who represents Thea. Veteran restaurant publicist Susan Brustman, whose firm handles Joey's and Goldman Properties, calls the Goldmans' split amicable.
``Thea will continue on as the proprietor.
Joey is more involved with Wynwood
real estate,'' Brustman says.
Circuit Judge Maria Espinosa Dennis has the case.
