Royal Caribbean International is courting New York sports fans and concert-goers for its massive cruises as the newly appointed, official cruise line of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and Madison Square Garden.
The Miami-based cruise line announced signing off on a marketing deal with the Madison Square Garden Company Tuesday, saying the agreement will strengthen the line’s connections with the New York market, currently serviced by its 4,905-passenger Anthem of the Seas, which sails from New Jersey.
Royal Caribbean will get “significant” brand exposure at the concert venue and during all Knicks and Rangers games, the line said, including court side and in-arena LED signage and featured spots on Knicks and Rangers digital and social assets.
“New York is an incredibly important market for Royal Caribbean, and we couldn’t think of a stronger fit in a strategic partner than the Madison Square Garden Company,” said Jim Berra, chief marketing officer for the cruise line. “As the Official Cruise Line of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and the Arena Concert Series at Madison Square Garden, we hope to inspire New Yorkers to consider Royal Caribbean for their next great adventure.”
