Manuel Alvarez, CPA/CFF, has been promoted to partner at Verdeja, De Armas & Trujillo. Previously he was manager at the firm. Alvarez has a bachelor’s of accounting from Florida International University.
Goldstein Schechter Koch announces the promotion of Amanda Bonifay, Beatriz Vazquez and Steven Holtz to GSK’s partnership team. Bonifay, CPA, has been named partner in the assurance department. She has a BBA and a master’s of professional accountancy from Georgia State University. Vazquez has been named a tax and accounting principal. She joined the firm in 2000. Holtz, a CPA, is a partner in the assurance department. He received his bachelor’s and MBA from UM.
Riley O’Brien has been promoted to manager of the geotechnical department in the Miami office of Professional Service Industries Inc. (PSI), which is headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. He previously was project manager. O’Brien has a bachelor’s in civil engineering and master’s of engineering from the University of Florida.
Susan J. Latham has been promoted to partner at Feldman Gale, P.A., and will practice in the firm’s Miami and Tampa offices. Latham, a graduate of Florida State University’s law school, also has an LLM in intellectual property law from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.
Luis Costa has been named president of Farrey’s Lighting & Bath. Since 1979, Costa has held leadership roles at the Miami company, including COO in 2015.
Jorge Ramirez has been promoted to general manager at Kaloti Metals & Logistics. Ramirez, who joined the company in 2010, was most recently physical operations manager. He has a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from FIU.
Jarred M. Goodstein has joined Colliers International South Florida, from CBRE, as senior vice president, based in Colliers’ Fort Lauderdale office. He has a bachelor’s in real estate from Florida Atlantic University.
Christopher McGrew has been appointed president and chief investment officer of Parmenter, which is based in Miami. He joined the company in 2012 as managing principal and CIO.

New position: Managing principal, Miami office of the accounting firm MBAF. He will have oversight of operations of the firm’s headquarters.
Also: He’ll continue as principal-in-charge of the firm’s audit department across all offices. He leads the firm’s financial institutions and SEC practices, and he’ll also play an expanded role in the firm’s philanthropic efforts.
And: Gonzalez belongs to the American Institute of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs; is an advisory board member of the Cuban-American CPAs; and is a board member and past president of the South Florida Banking Institute. He’s on the board of directors for the Area Stage Company; is treasurer for the CINTAS Foundation; belongs to the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana; is a board member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; is a board member of Miami Dade College’s Center for Financial Training; and is chairman of the finance and administration committee and audit committee for the United Way of Miami-Dade. In 2015, he was elected to the executive committee of the Orange Bowl, where he’s also on the board. Gonzalez, a lifetime member of the Florida International University Alumnus Association, is a board member of the FIU Foundation; a member of the College of Business Dean’s Council at FIU; and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Alumni Board.
Education: Gonzalez has a bachelor’s in accounting from FIU and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Miami.
Best advice he ever received: Get involved in civic, professional, community organizations early in your career, and make it a point to network. You might think you’re too young but you will see that not only will you have the privilege to give back to your community, but 15 – 20 years later your professional career will reap the benefits.
