Ricardo Belmar has been named vice president of Nova Southeastern University’s regional campus operations as of Jan. 1. He has been executive director of NSU’s Office of Regional Campuses in 2013. He follows Vice President Richard Davis, who returns to an academic administration position in the university’s Health Professions Division. Belmar will help manage NSU’s eight regional campuses and its online education programs. Belmar, has a degree in hospitality management from Florida International University and a master’s of international business administration from NSU.
Ligia Sosa has been named general manager, and Delphine Sacco as sales manager, of Robb & Stucky, a luxury home furnishings retailer that also has interior design services, which will open a showroom in Coral Gables in late January. The company is based in Southwest Florida. Sosa has managed showrooms in the Coral Gables area, including Kettal and Ligne Roset. She has a bachelor’s from Florida International University in hospitality management. Sacco was assistant manager of Baker’s Furniture’s Coral Gables showroom. She has a bachelor’s in marketing management from FIU.
Jay Binkowski has been promoted to president of Empire Florida, part of Empire Office that is headquartered in New York. He was previously the company’s senior vice president and Florida regional manager. Binkowski has been with Empire since the 2009 acquisition of Thomas W. Ruff South Florida.
Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman announced that the firm has promoted four of its attorneys to partner:
▪ Daniel Espino practices in the firm’s local government division, land use and zoning group, and government affairs and procurement group. His experience includes two terms on the Miami Springs City Council. Espino has a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University.
▪ Eduardo Soto practices in commercial real estate, commercial lending and transactional matters. He has a J.D. from the University of Tennessee.
▪ Peter “Pete” Waldman concentrates his practice on eminent domain, inverse condemnation and property litigation and valuation. He is a former assistant general counsel for the Florida Department of Transportation, and he was in the U.S. Marines for four years. He has a master’s degree in urban and regional planning, and a J.D. from the University of Miami.
▪ Samuel Zeskind focuses his practice on commercial and municipal litigation at the state and federal levels. His education includes a J.D. from St. Thomas University.
Bob Schneiderman has been named executive vice president of occupier services at Colliers International South Florida. He most recently was executive managing director of Cushman & Wakefield’s South Florida operations. Schneiderman has a bachelor’s in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from George Washington University.
