Frank A. Peña, CPA, has been named an assurance and advisory services principal at Kaufman Rossin. He will be based in the firm’s Boca Raton Office. Peña, who has more than two decades of prior experience in public accounting in Florida and New York, has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY.
Eugenio Valdés Figueroa, a curator, critic and expert on Latin American and contemporary art, will be director and chief curator of the downtown Miami-based Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation. He most recently worked as the director of art and education of Casa Daros, Daros-Latinoamerica, an art center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Robert M. Hebble joins Coconut Grove Bank as senior vice president, chief fiduciary officer and estate planning director. Previously, he was senior vice president, chief fiduciary officer and estate planning director at Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust. Hebble has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a J.D. from Boston University, and a master of law in taxation from New York University.
Jeysson Mairena has been named credit analyst at Marquis Bank. Previously, he was a credit analyst for International Finance Bank. Mairena has a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Miami.
Ruben D. Penaranda, M.D., a pulmonologist, has been named chief of staff for Doctors Hospital, part of Baptist Health South Florida. He succeeds outgoing Chief of Staff Percy W. Aitken, M.D. Prior to this appointment, Penaranda served a two-year term as vice chief of staff at Doctors Hospital. He also has held the role of secretary-treasurer. In addition to serving as a member of the board of directors, he is the director of respiratory services and director of critical care at Doctors Hospital. Penaranda, who is Board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine, has a medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
Elizabeth Diaz has been named director of catering at Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo, which is to open in December. Most recently Diaz was associate director of sales for Sofitel Miami.
Francisco J. Cerezo and John L. Murphy have joined the Miami office of DLA Piper as partners in the corporate and finance practices, respectively. Cerezo will also be DLA Piper’s US Head of Latin American Corporate. Both were previously at Foley & Lardner, where Cerezo chaired the Latin America practice and co-chaired the International practice. Cerezo received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, his LL.M. from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and his B.A. from Washington University. Murphy received his J.D., M.B.A., and B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University.
Andy Dehart has been named the vice president of animal husbandry at The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science. He will supervise the opening and operation of the Living Core Aquarium at the new Frost Science in downtown Miami as well as the Batchelor Environmental Center at the Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University. Both facilities are slated to open in 2016. Most recently, Dehart helped build and open the new Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada as the director of husbandry. Dehart has a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
John Ramsey has been named director of finance and operations for Pipeline Workspaces. He most recently was chief financial officer and general manager for Organic Salon System. Ramsey, a former naval flight officer with the U.S. Navy, has bachelor’s degrees in business and history from the University of Maryland UC and Texas Tech, respectively, and an MBA from Columbia.
