Gas for under 2 bucks a gallon?
Florida drivers are telling AAA that they’re beginning to find that pleasant price at the pump at various gas stations across the state.
Across the country, prices are continuing to fall.
“Gas prices below $2 a gallon will become more of a common sight in the southeastern United States,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins reported.
Never miss a local story.
Two reasons for that: Lower prices in the fall when fewer Americans take long road trips, as well as dropping oil prices because of a large global supply.
On Monday, the average price per gallon was $2.14 in Florida, according to the AAA. At this time last year, the average price per gallon was $3.28 in the state.
GasBuddy, which aggregates gas prices across the region, lists several stations in Lake Worth selling gas for $1.99 a gallon. The price at a Marathon station in Davie in the 6600 block of Stirling Road is $2.03 a gallon, according to the website. The highest prices at the pump in South Florida are $3.89 a gallon at several stations near Miami International Airport.
Miami-area fas prices dipped by 4.4 cents a gallon over the last week, according to GasBuddy, averaging $2.32 a gallon.
