Regional airline Silver Airways has a new CEO.

The Fort Lauderdale-based airline’s board of directors announced Wednesday that Sami T. Teittinen, Silver’s chief financial officer, has been named to the CEO position effective Friday. He will also join the board.

He replaces Dave Pflieger, who will become president and CEO of Hawaii Island Air on Oct. 1.

Teittinen became chief financial officer in January. His background includes the CFO role at BBA Aviation Flight Support, a publicly traded aviation services company.

Silver Airways, which operates about 180 daily flights to and from 38 destinations, is owned by Chicago-based investment firm Victory Park Capital.
