Steel magnate Leroy Schecter sold his 7-bedroom, 10-bathroom home at 12 Indian Creek Drive in Indian Creek Island, a favorite choice among billionaires, for $28 million.
The sale came at a 20 percent discount from the most recent asking price of $35 million, according to listing agent Nelson Gonzalez of EWM Realty International.
Gonzalez said the property had been priced as high as $45 million after a property at 3 Indian Creek, which has a new contemporary-style home, sold for $47 million in 2012, a Miami-Dade County record for a single-family home.
“What is really the value? It’s what someone will pay for it,’’ said Gonzalez.
The French-style home, built in 2000 and spanning 16,474 square feet on an 80,000 square foot lot, has 200 feet of waterfront with a wide view of Biscayne Bay, an infinity pool and cabana, a theater library and billiard room, according to the listing.
The buyer wasn’t identified. “It’s not anybody famous. Just a regular rich guy,’’ said Gonzalez.
The buyer’s agent is Nina Rudolph of Harding Realty in Surfside.
