More menu variety — and chocolate — in store for Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line is spicing up menus in its main dining rooms, giving customers the option to make reservations at those venues and adding a chocolate-centric night during each voyage.

The Miami-based cruise line said the changes are part of the “Norwegian NEXT” program, which seeks to improve guest experiences across the 13-ship fleet.

New dinner menus in the free main restaurant will offer more variety by changing every night, with a regional focus. The cruise company said the menus will include as many as 12 starters and 15 entrees, with traditional favorites such as prime rib and rack of lamb as well as more trendy options including mojito shrimp ceviche and seared scallops. Lunch menus in the main dining room will also be new. Upcoming guests will be able to make reservations for dinner as early as 90 days before they set sail.

O’Sheehan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, a free restaurant on four ships, will start offering specialty dish nights with entrees including all-you-can-eat ribs and chicken and waffles.

Norwegian is also making one night during each cruise “Chocoholic Night,” when every restaurant on board will offer as many as seven different chocolate desserts.

Most of the cruise line’s ships will offer the new dining options by the end of July, but the changes will not be in place until early 2015 on Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Sky and Pride of America.
