Silver Airways and JetBlue Airways both announced this week they will start service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Jacksonville International Airport.

Silver Airways said Tuesday that it will add multiple daily flights to the Northeast Florida city from Fort Lauderdale starting Aug. 19.

The Fort Lauderdale-based regional carrier will offer up to three nonstop flights a day until Nov. 2, when the frequency will increase to as many as six flights a day. There will be fewer flights on weekends.

Silver, which will operate the flights on 34-seat turboprop planes, has introductory fares for the route from $79 each way.

JetBlue made its announcement Wednesday. The low-cost carrier will start the twice-daily direct service between Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville on Oct. 29. Jacksonville will be JetBlue’s 33rd nonstop destination from Fort Lauderdale.

For a limited time, JetBlue is offering special fares on the route starting at $69 each way. Flights will be on 100-seat jets.
