NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content announced Tuesday that television veteran Luis Silberwasser will be the new president of Telemundo Network beginning this August.
Based in Miami, Silberwasser will report to NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content chairman Joe Uva, and oversee the Telemundo broadcast network, including Telemundo studios.
Most recently, he worked as executive vice president and chief content officer for Discovery Networks International, based in London, and oversaw content for international networks in more than 220 countries.
Silberwasser has had experience working with the Hispanicmarket in his tenure as senior vice president, content group of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic, managing programming, production and marketing for the region’s 15 channels. He was general manager for the company’s Hispanic-market geared channels — Discover en Espanol and Discovery Familia. He has been working at Discovery Networks International since 1998.
“Leading the Telemundo Network is a dream opportunity and I am incredibly excited about its future,” Silberwasser said in a press release. “Telemundo has a robust legacy as a content producer and, with NBCUniversal’s support, the network is well positioned to grow.”
