Two people were killed in two separate vehicle crashes on Sunday in Broward County.
The first happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. on the ramp leading from southbound Interstate 95 to Interstate 595, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Michael J. Tobin, 63, of Highland Beach, was driving a 1996 Jaguar on the exit ramp when he lost control of the car, which struck the eastern concrete wall, FHP said. Tobin died at the scene.
About nine hours later, a pedestrian was struck and killed in Fort Lauderdale, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue.
At about 8:30 p.m. two people were walking in the 2100 block of Northeast 65th Street when a vehicle crashed into them, and continued on to hit a parked car, Division Chief Eric Pologruto said.
One pedestrian died at the scene. The second was taken to North Broward Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Pologruto said.
The driver had nonlife-threatening injuries, Pologruto said, and was taken to another local hospital, police said.
