Broward's Jim Notter named Superintendent of Year
A group of Florida education nonprofit organizations has named Broward Schools Superintendent Jim Notter its Superintendent of the Year.
The prize, from the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, recognizes Notter for supporting the Broward Education Foundation, which is the school district's nonprofit fundraising arm. The Broward group provides college scholarships to high school seniors and grants to teachers for innovative projects.
``It's an award that shows the greatness of Broward County -- our business community that serves on the Broward Education Foundation, our school board,'' Notter said. ``You can't receive any types of awards like this without having an absolutely great Team Broward.''
Notter, who has been at the helm of the Broward district since August 2007, will receive the award next month in Tampa.
