Former Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion Jr. was given three more weeks on Wednesday to decide how he will plea in his corruption case.
Eggelletion appeared before federal Magistrate Judge Lurana S. Snow in Fort Lauderdale, who granted the request for an extension from Eggelletion's lawyer, Johnny McCray.
After the hearing, McCray said no plea deal was in the works. He added that the extra time was needed to review hundreds of hours of recordings involved in the case.
``We're trying to basically determine our course of action,'' McCray said.
In September, Eggelletion was one of three Broward political figures arrested and charged by federal investigators with fraud.
Eggelletion was charged, along with two Broward businessmen and a Bahamian attorney, with conspiring to launder money from a fraudulent investment scheme.
Former Miramar Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman was charged with taking bribes for municipal projects.
And former Broward School Board member Beverly Gallagher was accused of taking kickbacks from a Broward contractor seeking to break into Broward's school construction business.
