Coral Springs boy pleads no contest to attempted first-degree murder
A 12-year-old Coral Springs boy who stabbed a 13-year-old neighbor in the back and then stuck another knife into his own stomach will spend nine to 18 months in a high-risk juvenile facility, a Broward judge ordered Tuesday.
``I want to die, I want to die,'' the 12-year-old told paramedics when they arrived at the scene of the Sept. 18 after-school knifing.
With his father towering at his side, the boy stood before Circuit Judge Elijah Williams in juvenile court and pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree murder.
When the boy returns from the Hillsborough County juvenile facility, he will be under community supervision, possibly until he is 21.
Both boys were students at Ramblewood Middle School. Neither suffered serious injuries.
