2 men attacked in Miramar holdups

A 39-year-old man told police he was out for a ``leisurely'' walk in the 8200 block of Southwest 25th Court in Miramar when four men approached him about midnight Oct. 23. He kept walking, but they followed.

Then one man punched him on the head and knocked him to the ground. He stood up, ran to his home with the robbers behind him and was able to alert his wife to call 911.

The robbers, who appeared to be between 15 and 18, gave up the chase.

Another robber picked on a 79-year-old man riding his bicycle in the 1700 block of Utopia Drive.

About 5 p.m. Oct 25, a man approached the victim from the rear, wrapped his arms around his neck and pulled him to the ground.

The robber removed a necklace from the victim's neck and told him to part with his watch before entering the passenger side of a waiting car.

COOPER CITY

Jewelry, cameras stolen: Someone pried a rear sliding glass door and entered a home in the 9300 block of Southwest 54th Street between 8 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Oct. 26. The burglar left with two digital cameras valued at $250 and two boxes containing jewelry valued at $10,000.

Focus burglarized: Someone used a brick to smash the front passenger window of a 2003 Ford Focus while it was parked in the 5600 block of Southwest 115th Avenue between 11 p.m. Oct. 18 and 8:19 a.m. Oct. 19. The burglar stole a Hewlett-Packard laptop from the floor of the front passenger seat, a Zoom video player from the center console and a bag containing school books and a credit card from the front seat. The property and damage estimate was $1,360.

Home ransacked: Someone entered an unlocked home for sale in the 3900 block of Northwest 97th Avenue. The owner said he left a garage door unlocked while he was in Orlando with his wife between 12:45 p.m. Oct 24 and 1 p.m. Oct. 25th. The burglars stole two computer monitors, a laptop computer, a printer, two signed footballs, five Russian pocket watches. a 60-inch TV, Surround Sound, a Comcast box, a diamond necklace, a gold ring with diamonds and a checkbook. The items were valued at about $5,600.

DAVIE

Lawn tools taken: Lawn equipment valued at $6,950 was stolen from a lawn care trailer parked in a ``secure area'' at Extra Care Storage, 3401 S. State Road 7, between 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 8:46 a.m. Oct. 13. The burglars pried the side door of the trailer and took two mowers, two hedgers, two blowers, two weed trimmers, an edger and a generator.

Donation box stolen: A driver for the Cancer Free America Foundation said he placed a donation box in the Tower Shops, 2300 S. University Dr., about 2 p.m. Oct. 11. When he returned an hour later the metal bin was gone. He told police the metal bin was valued at $700 and usually contains shoes, clothes and other items for Cancer patients.

Bumper boosted: Someone stole a bumper and molding from a 2003 BMW in the 6900 block of Southwest 39th Street between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

FORT LAUDERDALE

Assault with van: About 10:20 p.m. Oct. 14, a 36-year-old woman sitting on the sidewalk in the 3700 block of West Davie Boulevard told police a man in a green minivan followed her from U.S. 441 before he turned sharply against the curb and knocked her to the ground. She said he told her it was ``dangerous to walk alone.'' She was apparently uninjured.
