POLICE REPORT

Robber strikes twice in Hollywood

A man wearing a black mask over his face and a black tank top walked over to a blue Honda in the driveway of a home in the 5900 block of Fillmore Street in Hollywood about 1:45 a.m. July 29.

Inside the car two men were talking. The robber put a small revolver to the head of the 26-year-old passenger and stole an Apple MacBook laptop, valued at $1,700.

He started to walk away and then had a change of heart.

The robber returned to the driver's side of the car, placed his gun to the head of the 25-year-old driver and took his cellphone and the keys to the car.

The victims told police they last saw the robber when he ran west on Fillmore Street and north through an alley.

Then the curtain moved as she walked toward the window. The man who was trying to get in ran away when he saw her. She told police the window's locking mechanism had been broken for three months. The burglar had opened a gate, removed a window screen and pulled the window all the way up before he was scared away.

Purse snatched: A 58-year-old woman told police she was walking toward her car through the Target parking lot, 3251 Hollywood Blvd., when two men in a gray Honda ``very quietly'' approached her from the rear about 6:35 p.m. Aug. 1. As they pulled up next to her, the passenger grabbed at her purse and she almost fell while trying to hold on to it.

The robber won the struggle and escaped with a yellow purse containing a wallet, credit cards and a driver's license. She told police the only description she could provide was that both robbers wore hats.
