One person was killed and three others injured in a five-vehicle accident in Miami on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The driver of a stolen commercial truck was speeding north on Northwest 12th Avenue around 2 p.m. when he sideswiped a car and then collided head-on with a red Dodge Neon traveling south on 12th Avenue at the 52nd Street intersection, officials said.
The truck also hit a Monte Carlo before sideswiping a gray Honda.
The woman driving the red Neon was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami fire rescue spokesman. A police statement later identified her as Patricia Ann Floyd, 51, a mother of three children.
A passenger in her car was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
A firefighter recruit in one of the cars was treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital and released, Carroll said.
A third person was also taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The two men inside the stolen truck fled.
Police searched the area but could not find the men.
''This is a horrendous accident on Mother's Day,'' said Officer William Moreno, a Miami police spokesman. ``All these people appear to be innocent bystanders.''
Police said the men in the stolen truck were believed to be in their 20s, about six feet tall and between 160 to 170 pounds.
The driver was wearing a gray shirt with long camouflage shorts and the passenger, who has a goatee, was wearing all white. The passenger fled limping.
