Concerned about changes to Florida's Turnpike system?
The Florida Department of Transportation is offering a new way to gauge public opinion. On Tuesday evening, it will host its first webinar -- a public workshop that will be streamed live on the Web.
The workshop will focus on the upcoming toll-by-plate system. Set to start in 2011, cameras will snap photos of a vehicle's license plate when a driver goes through a booth between exit 1 in Florida City and exit 47 in Miramar. Cash toll collections will be eliminated in those areas.
Participants must register for the webinar, which starts at 6 p.m. at http://tinyurl.com/flturnpike.
For those unable to attend on Tuesday, a complete audio and visual recording of the workshop will be posted on the Turnpike website at: http://tinyurl.com/turnpikerecord.
Those without computers can view the seminar at Internet docks at 3400 W. Commercial Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale or the Snapper Creek Turnpike Service Plaza, Materials Lab Training Room, at Mile Post 19 along the Florida's Turnpike in Miami.
