A head-on crash Sunday morning in Miami Gardens has left one man dead and closed traffic on Northwest 199th Street.
West-bound 199th Street is closed from Northwest 27th Avenue to the Turnpike entrance, Miami Gardens police said.
According to police, a gray Nissan Altima, traveling west-bound, crossed four lanes of traffic and hit a west-bound Nissan Armada SUV around the 2200 block, witnesses said.
None of the people involved have been identified by police.
A passenger in the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he is in critical condition. A woman driving the Armada was also taken to the trauma center with multiple broken bones, but is in stable condition, police said.
