Two major crashes have shutdown South Florida roadways Monday morning
A major crash involving three semi-trucks has shut down a stretch of U.S. 1 in the Middle Keys.
The roadway at mile marker 63 on Long Key near Marathon has been closed since 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.
One person who was trapped in a truck has been airlifted to a Miami hospital, the sheriff's office said.
Both directions of the road, the only way in and out of the Keys, are expected to remain closed through the morning as crews clear the wreckage and clean the roadway of spilled oil.
In Hollywood, a rollover crash and rescue has shut down Stirling Road at U.S. 441 in Hollywood.
