Robinson, Serret highlight playoff opener for Florida Bible
Adrienne Robinson and Celine Serret helped lead the Florida Bible School girls' varsity volleyball team over Hollywood Christian 27-25, 17-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-13 in the District 14-1A quarterfinal at Highlands Christian School in Deerfield Beach.
In the deciding game, Serret, a junior, had seven aces and a kill. Courtney Lewis, a junior, had four service points with an ace. Selena Van Doren, another junior, had two kills, and Robinson had the match clinching kill with Lewis recording the service point.
Senior Talena Castillo single-handedly kept the Eagles in the final game. She had seven service points (two aces) and a kill. Junior Kaley Howard, the best hitter on the court, added two kills off tips, and freshman Olivia Gonzalez had two service points.

Recap: New Orleans vs. Indiana
Chris Paul had 21 points and 11 assists as the New Orleans Hornets took a 108-96 win over the Indiana Pacers in preseason action.
Marcus Thornton had 19 points and seven rebounds while Peja Stojakovic added 16 points and five boards for the Hornets, who had dropped their previous two games.
Danny Granger had 23 points and six rebounds and T.J. Ford added 22 points for the Pacers, who were coming off a win over Houston. Dahntay Jones had 16 points off the bench in a losing effort.

National Hockey League Game Capsules
Troy Brouwer had a goal and two assists as the Chicago Blackhawks downed the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, at United Center. Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith each had two assists for the Blackhawks, who had dropped three of four coming into the game. Cristobal Huet made 17 saves in the win. Jonathan Toews had missed the previous six games with a concussion, but returned to play on Monday and had a goal for Chicago. Anze Kopitar scored the lone goal while Jonathan Quick made 25 stops for the Kings, who have lost four of their last six games.

Arenal sets table for young Pompano team
Sophomore Alexis Arenal did a good job setting, and the Pompano High School girls' varsity volleyball team won a big match, defeating visiting Nova 25-19, 25-21, 27-29, 25-21 on Tuesday night.
Arenal, who had 12 points and two aces, totaled 27 assists, distributing the ball nicely, especially to 5-9 Stephanie Pellitteri and 5-11 Peyton Schlosser . Pellitteri was also outstanding on serve reception and overall defense.
Schlosser, another sophomore, had 17 kills, two blocks, nine points and three aces for the Tornadoes (8-5). Pellitteri, a junior who overcame a virus, had 15 kills, 16 points and three aces. Senior 6-0 middle hitter Lauren Gillespie added nine kills, three blocks, a tip and a point. Senior 6-2 middle hitter Raneisha Lamar had three kills, one block and three points.

Coral Glades takes Taravella to the limit
A quick tip by setter Maggie Hyams changed the momentum for Taravella in game five, and the Trojans girls' varsity volleyball team edged Coral Glades 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12 in the District 10-6A quarterfinal on Monday at Douglas High School in Parkland.
Ashley Welly, a junior, had three kills (tip) and a service point in game five. Taylor Bolhofner, another junior, had a kill (tip) and two service points. Senior Brittany Haarer had four service points (two aces). Jena Lococo, a senior, had a kill and two service point, and senior Dana Martell had a kill (tip) in the deciding game.
For the Jaguars, Stephanie Holbrook had three kills (tip) and three service points in the fifth game. Amanda Kline added three kills. Setter Sarah Stauffer had two service points. Tessa Conkling and Cristina Knox each added a service point.
