Mystery credit-card charge is resolved
I do not think there is anything you can do to help me recover my lost money; however, I am hoping by sharing my experience it may prevent someone else from losing theirs.
I travel for a living (the majority of the time I am on the road), so, often my husband will pay off my personal credit card without my review.
In July, I happened to look at my statement while he was paying it and asked why I was being charged $39.95 every month by the same company. I knew I certainly had not approved a recurring charge. I tried contacting the company via the telephone number on my bill. I received a recording that told me to ``hold on.'' After several minutes of holding, I was told there is no one available to help me and I was disconnected.
I immediately contacted Capital One and reported a fraud and canceled my credit card number. I was informed that because I canceled the card I would receive a full credit (seven-eight months of charges at $39.95). This credit appeared on my new statement. I was ecstatic that Capital One had kept their word.
I responded to any request they had about the fraudulent charges and filled out all paperwork.
To my amazement, I received two letters in the mail from Capital One. The first letter stated that the fraud investigation is resolved and that I am responsible, as promised, for $0. The second letter stated they were crediting my account for only three months of fraudulent charges and basically too bad on the rest of the charges -- even though Capital One admits it is fraud.
I don't know who the charges are from so that I can argue with the company and try to get my money back because they don't answer the phone and Capital One isn't giving me any information because the matter has been settled. What is worse is that Capital One states in its letter that the company can dispute the reversal of the three charges and I will be responsible for them also.
It doesn't seem fair to me and I am wondering first, can you help me? And second, at least if not me can you help this not happen to someone else? I am enclosing a copy of my credit card charges.

We forwarded your e-mail to Capital One and you said you received a quick response from the credit card company, saying that it had resolved your issue and you would receive a full credit of $320 to your credit card.
You said that in fact you have received the entire credit to your account and you were very grateful.
