Rington runaround resolved

Filename: Phone15 Rally BROW rcw.JPG

I needed a new cellphone. Our service is with AT&T. I went to the local store to get a new phone. They told me I'd be better off getting a phone from them online. This was in March.

When I got home and went to their website, I found it very confusing. I did not get a phone but apparently and mistakenly, signed up two of the four phones on our account for ``ringtones'' at $9.95/month, each.

Unfortunately, we did not notice we were paying extra until our August bill. We immediately contacted AT&T, which credited us back the $19.90 for August's ``ringtones'' and canceled the service. But they are unwilling to credit us for the $19.90/month for March, April, May, June or July, totaling $99.50.

We never downloaded even the first ringtone, don't have a clue how to do it and didn't ever want it. We do not even have ``texting!''

Can you please help me get my almost $100 back?

-- Janice Mucher, Miami

We contacted AT&T, and you said an AT&T representative contacted you, and as a ``one-time courtesy,'' offered to refund the entire $99.50.

He told you that if you accidentally hit ``subscribe'' on AT&T's website, the charges incur.
