The May 16 Action Line column included a query about recycling VHS tapes.

I had several old VHS and cassette tapes that I preferred to recycle rather than throw away and conducted some research that led me to Green Disk (Greendisk.com), which recycles all kinds of computer and video items.

However, this service is not free. It costs $6.95 to recycle up to 20 pounds of these items, plus the cost of shipping to Missouri.

If you're an avid recycler like me, though, it's worth the price of a good bottle of wine to keep these items out of the waste stream.
