A thief placed his hands inside jars of pickled food, deeming the items unsellable, at a Chevron gas station in the 20000 block of Northwe... st 27th Avenue about 10 p.m. March 28. Police arrested the thief after he ate some of the items. Police had banned the man from the store because of previous incidences. Damage is estimated at $48.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara Jordan read the books ‘No Matter What’ and ‘The Search for the Perfect Child... 019; to more than 45 students as part of National Library Week this past week at the North Dade Regional Library. The students were from Beacon Hill Preparatory School in Miami Gardens. Throughout the week across the nation, movie stars, community leaders and athletes nationwide worked to raise the awareness of the importance of reading to young children.

Thieves stole a purse, credit cards and gift cards from a 2009 black Mazda parked at a gas station in the 4100 block of Northwest 183rd St... reet between 2 and 2:30 p.m. March 23. The victim left her doors unlocked before paying for gas. The stolen items were valued at $586.
