Just Pure Maine
By Gillian Peters, age 11.
Every summer I go to Capitol Island, a small island off the coast of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. My grandpa takes us out in his boat to explore. One summer morning our family was meandering along in our boat looking for sea creatures. Suddenly my aunt yells from the bow of the boat, ''Look, everyone, look at the seals!'' Right in front us are almost 300 seals clustered on a tiny island. One of the seals literally did a flip in the air. There are pale gray baby seals, and huge dark gray and brown daddy seals! After we sat there watching them for at least an hour we decided to go home. On the way home my Grandpa said, ``This is just pure Maine!''
