Still time for deals before the seasonal tourist rush
With tourist season still about six weeks away, Miami attractions are hoping to draw in local residents with two-for-one and other discounted admissions. You could consider a visit an early scouting mission for friends and relatives from up north.
Check www.everyonesakid.com for deals that are good through Saturday, including two-for-one adult admission to Deering Estate, adults getting in at kids's prices to Miami Metrozoo and the Miami Seaquarium, and similar discounts at other area attractions.
In addition, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau has pulled together a dozen deals -- buy three, get the fourth free -- at local hotels, restaurants and attractions. See www.miamidealsforlocals.com for details.
BROWARD
Three dozen Broward County restaurants are offering special menus for Dine Out Lauderdale, which runs through Nov. 12. The three-course dinners are $35. Most of the prix fixe deals are available only Sunday through Thursday, and most are not being offered during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which opens Thursday and runs through Nov. 2. See www.sunny.org for participating restaurants.
While you're visiting the site, look for information on Lauderdale Spa Chic, now in its last week. Some of Broward County's upscale spas are offering certain treatments at a heavily discounted price of $99.
KEY WEST
Fantasy Fest is under way. The annual exotic, erotic extravaganza runs through Nov. 1. This year's theme is Villains, Vixens and Vampires. Highlights include the costume competition Thursday at the Pier House, street fair and Masquerade March on Friday, and Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade Saturday. Information: 305-296-1817 or www.fantasyfest.net.
