Want to watch your favorite team, but the economy has eaten into your budget for travel to away games? We've got the spots for you. Most have drink specials on Game Day. Check Miami.com for details.
America's Backyard: Football outdoors? What a novelty. Watch the game outdoors at this hotspot in downtown Fort Lauderdale. America's Backyard will be hosting local pre and post-game radio shows. The Joe Rose Show will broadcast live on Saturdays from 7-10 p.m., and WINS and Big 105 will be there with their live sideline show on Sundays from 4-6. WQAM will also be there for post-game wrapups after Hurricanes games.
The outdoor bar can seat 200-plus, with full capacity at 1,500. 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-727-0950; http://myamericasbackyard.com.
Flanigan's Seafood Bar and Grill: Known for its juicy baby back ribs and delish Joe's Steakhouse soup, Flanigan's is a local hotspot that has been around for more than 50 years. You can sit at the bar, play pool (at most locations) or just snag a booth to watch the Dolphins kick butt this season -- hopefully Jason Taylor's return helps propel the Fish into the playoffs.
Flanigan's has all the football packages, including the DirectTV package for football on Sunday and Monday. There are large TV screens in every room. Flanigan's has 22 locations from Stuart to Pine Crest. For more info, go to www.flanigans.net.
Mr. Moe's: This cozy log cabin in the heart of Coral Gables is one of America's Greatest Sports Bars -- according to ESPN, anyway. This place is a college hot spot where you can get some good barbecue -- try the pulled pork -- and watch plenty of football. With 32 flat screen TVs and four plasma screens, there's not a blind spot at Mr. Moe's.
3131 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove; 305-442- 1114; www.mrmoes.com.
Shuckers Bar and Grill: Football, beer and . . . a water view? You can get it all at this docskide restaurant in Miami. There are pool tables and the complete NFL package on 22 TVs. Viewing is first come, first serve. Are you a Vikings fan who wants to watch Brett Favre dismantle his old team on Oct. 5? Then get there with plenty of time to spare.
1819 79th Street Cswy., Miami; 305-866-1570.
The Sports Exchange: Football heaven? Is there such a place? This locale was built with that idea in mind. There's a 14-foot projector at the main bar (a 25x8 visual) surrounded by eight plasma screens showing nothing but sports -- including college and NFL games. Want to sit at a table? Fire up your game there with your own personal, private speakers. Coach Randy Shannon comes in to talk about the Hurricanes on WQAM's Hurricane Hotline show every Thursday from 7-9 p.m.
45 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables; 305-774-1222; www.sportsexchangemiami.com.
Waxy O'Connors: This Irish pub and eatery shows college games on Saturday and NFL games on Sunday. Monday night football is also part of the package.
248 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305 534-7824.
Bokamper's Sports Bar and Grill, 1280 S. Pine Island Rd., Plantation; 954-533-7152.
Finnegan's Way, 401 SW Third Ave., Miami; 305-856-7881.
Norman's American Bar & Grill, 6770 Collins Ave, Miami Beach; 305-868-9248.
Sandbar Grill, 3064 Grand Ave, Coconut Grove; 305-444-5270.
Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle, 200 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale; 954-523-3233.
