NORWAY: REALIZING A DREAM
The Nobel Peace Center in Oslo this week opens From King to Obama focusing on Martin Luther King Jr. and how the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s paved the way for Barack Obama's historic election. ``There are many obvious similarities between King and Obama in terms of their values, their political strategies and in their rhetoric and public impact,'' says Bente Erichsen, director of the center. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 when he was just 35 years old, the youngest ever Peace Prize laureate.
Details: From King to Obama opens Friday and runs through April 11. For more on the exhibit, visit www.nobelpeacecenter.org. For info about travel to Norway, go to www.visitnorway.com/us.
CALIFORNIA: A MAN AND HIS MOUSE
Starting Oct. 1, you'll be able to get a taste of Disney in San Francisco. That's when the Walt Disney Family Museum opens in the Presidio, with 10 galleries focusing on different chapters in the life of Walt Disney himself from his early years in Kansas City to his Hollywood heydays. Displays will include the Oscar statuettes awarded to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -- one full size and seven little ones -- along with the earliest known drawings of Mickey Mouse and concept art and animation cels showing Bambi and Pinocchio.
Details: The museum will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Tuesdays. Admission: $20 for adults, $15 for kids 6-17, and will be by timed-entry ticket, available online at www.waltdisney.org up to 60 days in advance.
WEST VIRGINIA: GO WITH THE FLOW
West Virginia's white water outfitters are expecting an exceptional fall season. Outfitters tell The Charleston Gazette that the Gauley and New rivers are running at prime levels, and Class VI River Runners managing partner Dave Arnold says this year's rapids are among the best he's seen in 30 years.

The show will be chock full of fun stuff: cars, boats, trucks, ATVs, dirt bikes, motorcycles, golf carts, computers, home theaters, spas, grills, fishing gear, kayaks and -- don't ask us why -- lawnmowers. There will be contests, entertainment, demonstrations and prizes.
