CRUISES
DISNEY TO SET SAIL
TO ALASKA
Disney Cruise Line's on-again, off-again romance with the West Coast is back on for 2011, when the Disney Wonder will split its time between Mexico cruises out of Los Angeles and Alaska cruises out of Canada.
Best known for its Caribbean itineraries out of Florida, Disney Cruise Line had summer flings with Southern California in 2005 and 2008, when the Wonder's sister ship, Disney Magic, sailed to Mexico from Los Angeles. But Alaska will be a first for the family-friendly ships.
In 2011, the Disney Wonder will do seven-night, round-trip Alaska itineraries out of Vancouver from May 3 to Sept. 6, with stops at Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. Fares will start at $939 per person, double occupancy.
Between Jan. 23 and April 17, 2011, and again between Sept. 25 and Dec. 18, 2011, the Wonder will do seven-night, round-trip Mexico itineraries from Los Angeles, with port calls on Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Fares will begin at $639 per person, double occupancy.
Meanwhile, the Disney Magic will return to the Mediterranean in 2011, sailing 10- and 11-night itineraries out of Barcelona during the summer season. Fares will begin at $1,739 per person, double occupancy. For most of 2011, it will sail out of Port Canaveral on seven-night Caribbean itineraries.
Bookings for the 2011 season will open Sept. 28.
ID THEFT
DID YOU STAY AT A RADISSON?
Radisson Hotels and Resorts says that between November and May, the computer systems of some of its North American hotels were ``accessed without authorization'' and guests' personal data, such as name and credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates, may have been compromised. The feds are on the case, but in the meantime, the company encourages all past guests to check with their credit card companies and banks for any suspect transactions. AIRLINES
JUGGLING FEES
Frontier Airlines, which flies between Fort Lauderdale and Denver, has raised (boo!) and lowered (yippee!) some of its fees. The low-fare carrier will increase checked baggage fees to $20 for the first piece and $30 for the second, a $5 spike. But it is lowering reservation-change fees: Holders of economy tickets will pay $100 (down from $150), even for same-day alterations, and Classic passengers will be charged $50, down from $75.
