Disney is taking to river cruising — but its won’t be on Disney Cruise Line. Its tour arm, Adventures by Disney, is partnering with AmaWaterways for a series of family cruises on the Danube in 2016. The cruises, in July and December, will be on a boat designed for family travel with connecting staterooms and cabins that can hold up to five people.
Construction is underway on the Seabourn Encore, a 600-passenger luxury ship. A plate-cutting ceremony — marking the cutting and shaping of steel plates to form the hull — was held Monday at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy. The ship will debut in late 2016.
Norwegian Cruise Line has removed the surcharge at some of its Asian restaurants, including Shanghai Noodle, but its sushi and teppanyaki restaurants will still charge for dining. NCL announced the change on Monday, just days after revealing that it would upgrade its room service options but add a $7.95 “convenience charge” to most room-service orders on two ships, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway.
Carnival Cruise Line has added The Band Perry, Boston, Lionel Richie and Heart to its Carnival LIVE concert series for summer and fall. Carnival LIVE concerts are performed on Carnival vessels while they are docked in Cozumel, Nassau or St. Thomas.
