An exhibit at the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum explores maritime lifesaving skills and techniques from the past encompassed in paintings spanning several hundred years. Featuring hands-on activities for children, such as a breeches buoy to climb into and a replica of a surfboat to row, Throw Out the Life-Line: Maritime Lifesaving Practices Procedures and Pastimes tells the stories of yesterday’s maritime heroes.
