A wheeled bag is a boon for traversing long passageways and city streets, but a backpack can be lighter and less problematic when tackling stairs or space-challenged storage bins. Wheeled bags with stash-away back straps are more versatile, but don't solve the weight and space issues. Eagle Creek has come up with a solution, with its new EC Lync System luggage. The wheeled upright bags, available in four sizes, have collapsible, removable frames. The frames, which incorporate the wheels and retractable handle, can be stashed inside the bag or another piece of luggage for transport — or left behind. The carry-on 20- and 22-inch bags, and the larger 26-inch model come with adjustable, removable back straps. The 29-inch bag has a removable duffle strap. All the bags have multiple grab handles and exterior pockets, compression straps and lockable double zippers. Each comes with a big stuff sac (for stashing the whole bag or just the frame) with a drawstring closure and bottom grab handle. The bags can be collapsed nearly flat, with or without the frame, for storage. Color choices include bright blue, flame orange, or graphite.
EC Lync System 20-inch bag is $254.95; 22-inch, $259.95; 26-inch, $279.95; and 29-inch, $299.95. Info at www.eaglecreek.com.
