CELEBRITY ROUNDUP
Seal, Michael Kors headline Destination Fashion event
You know Project Runway, the Bravo fashion design show hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum. Here's a real runway project: getting more than 2,000 people -- each paying up to $1,000 -- in prime viewing spots to catch a mega-fashion show and eyeball enough celebs to make a red carpet regular giddy.
For the March 7 Destination Fashion shindig to benefit The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, organizers plan to turn the Bal Harbour Shops' parking lot into a really long runway -- a sizable 246 feet -- so that everyone can get a glimpse of the celebs.
Seal sings. The Pointer Sisters perform ( Issa, RuthPointer's daughter, jumps in for the late sister, June), and fashion designer Michael Kors showcases his fall line. Other celeb guests include actor Tommy Lee Jones, a co-chair of the event; golf legend Jack Nicklaus and Miami Dolphins icon Nick Buoniconti. Barton G. handles catering.
The celebs' appearances ''drive turnout for this important event . . . [to] raise much-needed funds for our efforts to cure paralysis,'' says Marc Buoniconti, who helps spearhead the fundraiser.
To match this year's theme, ''Decades: '70s, '80s, '90s and Today,'' the mall will be transformed into specific periods in fashion and pop culture -- ''from Studio 54 to Sex in the City,'' says organizer Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard.
Now, what you really want to know is will Klum -- who just so happens to be Seal's wife -- turn out for the event?
''She's been invited -- and no one has declined, yet,'' is all Buoniconti can say about that.
Destination Fashion tickets are $300, $500 and $1,000. Call 305-243-4656 or e-mail saagaard@miami.edu.
