Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has listed her gated estate in Scottsdale, Arizona, for sale at $2.499 million.
The nearly 8,000-square-foot home, built in 2001, is set at the end of a wraparound driveway. The main house is a blend of Santa Barbara, Tuscan and Spanish styles. High ceilings, chandeliers and wrought-iron railings are among interior details.
A media room/theater, a wine cellar, six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms are among the living spaces, which take in mountain views. One of the two master suites includes a rooftop deck.
The resort-themed backyard features fireplaces off the covered patio and veranda. A built-in grill station, a fire pit, a pool, a spa, water-saving synthetic lawn and a lighted sports court populate the more than 4-acre equestrian-zoned grounds. There’s also a six-car garage.
Never miss a local story.
Palin, 51, was the Republican nominee for vice president in 2008 and served as Alaska’s governor from 2006 to 2009.
The property last changed hands in 2011 for $1.695 million, public records show.
Actor Stephen Amell, who stars on the CW series Arrow, has bought a Hollywood Hills home for $3.62 million.
Built in 1981, the Tudor-style two-story is on the site of a 1930s house that burned to the ground when Rolling Stones musician Keith Richards was in residence. Richards was a renter at the time and barely escaped.
A bridge over a creek leads to the half-timbered home, which is set back from the street amid mature trees. Leaded-glass windows in keeping with the style add character inside and out. The 3,920 square feet of bright living areas have recently been painted white and gray.
A formal living room with French doors, a family room, a pub, a library, five bedrooms and four bathrooms are among the interior spaces. An updated kitchen features a wine refrigerator, a breakfast bar, a walk-in pantry and marble counters.
The lot of more than half an acre contains a swimming pool with a spa, lawn and a pergola.
Amell, 34, also has played Arrow character Oliver Queen in The Flash (2014-15) and the 2015 miniseries Vixen. He will star as hockey-stick-wielding vigilante Casey Jones in the upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
AN UNDER THE RADAR MOVE
Actor Charlie Sheen has sold a home in Sherman Oaks for $6.6 million in an off-market transaction, public records show. He bought the house from filmmaker Mike Medavoy four years ago for about $7 million.
Set on about half an acre in guard-gated Mulholland Estates, the two-story Mediterranean was built in 1998 and has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms in more than 9,000 square feet of living space.
The house opens to a two-story entry with a sweeping wrought iron staircase. A formal living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a library/den and a center-island kitchen are among common areas. A fireplace and private balcony highlight the second-floor master suite. Rows of French doors connect indoor-outdoor living spaces, including a heated veranda. A swimming pool with a raised spa, a built-in barbecue, formal landscaping and an expanse of grass complete the grounds.
Sheen, 50, publicly acknowledged in November that he has been HIV positive for four years. He said he decided to reveal his condition to end a spate of extortion threats.
The son of Martin Sheen, he starred in the television sitcoms Anger Management, Two and a Half Men and Spin City. Among his film credits are Major League (1989) and Money Talks (1997).
He owns other property in the Los Angeles area, including homes in Beverly Hills and Malibu.
SLUGGER GIVES UP HIS HOME FIELD
Former Angels star outfielder Josh Hamilton has sold his mansion-estate in Newport Coast’s guard-gated Crystal Cove community for $12.5 million.
Designed by architect Will Hosband and built in 2013, the Provence-style house has six bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms in nearly 11,000 square feet of living space. Open-plan interiors done in beamed ceilings and stone finishes include a formal entry, a center-island kitchen and an office. A two-sided fireplace divides the formal living and dining rooms.
The master suite has a large soaking tub, a walk-in closet and one of six fireplaces. A lower entertainment wing sports a game room, a home theater, a wine cellar and a garage with parking for as many as eight cars. An elevator runs between each of the home’s three floors.
On the main level, sliding doors open to a loggia with a sitting area topped with stone arches. An outdoor kitchen, an infinity-edge swimming pool and spa, fountains and formal landscaping are also within the half-acre property. Views of the coastline, harbor and surrounding community complete the setting.
The home came to market in April for $16.5 million and was more recently priced at $14.9 million, records show. Hamilton bought the house three years ago for $12 million.
Hamilton, 34, was traded by the Angels to the Texas Rangers in April following an off-season in which he suffered a substance-abuse relapse and filed for divorce from his wife, Katie. He was the American League Most Valuable Player in 2010.
